Progress Updates

BadPirate Garage has been a little... Occupied since August with a home remodel going on. Currently the Garage itself is multi-tasking, what we lovingly refer to as the "Grichen, Griving Room, Grining Room", as our family remodels the kitchen, living, and dining and "Great Room" side of the home. Optimistically this work should be done in the next few weeks and we are all excited to be expand back into the space.
There are still updates on the software front however!
AJ - AI DJ

AI DJ is 80% towards an Alpha, with a working prototype. However, after some consideration and changes to the market work has been paused for the moment. Specifically Spotify has added an AI DJ to their platform, they have a large user base and while there are some novel functions planned with AI DJ, it might be difficult to have a subscription based app with this competition in the market. Given that, we plan to watch for a bit and see how the market reacts, rather than shipping a server-ai backed product that we may later turn off, in favor of having the first App launch be one that runs standalone on iOS and can be free.
Project Undeca
Current active project is a standalone game using the swipe and merge mechanism from games like 2048, having a lot of fun trying different variations and sandboxing. If you are interested or like this type of game or the idea of working on Indy Games, reach out as I'd love to talk about what I'm working on.
AutoFlair
One of my side projects is managing our vacation rental in Kirkwood (lovely place BTW). One challenge with AirBNB in cold climates is getting the room temperature right with central heating. We purchased a product for the unit called flair which allows for guests to set the temperature in each room independently, by automating the vents. This works great, but Kirkwood has a second challenge... Incredibly high gas heating prices. As a way to reduce costs, I've written a script called AutoFlair that checks whether or not a guest will be in the unit daily (using free Github Actions) and triggers the Flair API to either a comfortable temperature or a cost saving one based on occupancy. While not a product of Badpirate Garage, this is something that I have been working on and might be useful if you have a similar situation.
